Local Milan No.4

In April 2019, the fourth edition of Local Milan was unveiled in the global heart of fashion and design the 5 Vie district, Milan. Milan Design Week is the worlds most iconic annual design extravaganza. This year, Australia made its presence felt when Emma Elizabeth, founder, designer and curator of LOCAL DESIGN, showcased a collection of Australian and New Zealand designers in a magnificently curated exhibit. The Fourth Local Milan proved to be the perfect opportunity to increase the global perspective of Australian style. This year, Local Design unveiled the largest independent showcase of Australian design to date, with forty-four Australian/ New Zealand designers exhibiting their work in a diverse and multi-cultural aesthetic experience. The standout exhibit was one of many that transformed ten levels of the magnificent Milanese two-storey palazzo apartment building in the renowned design district.

Contemporary Australian Style

Closer to home, a wintery Melbourne provided the perfect backdrop for the A.G.M Expo on June 20th-22nd, 2019, presenting choice works from the Local Milan No.4 design exhibition. LOCAL DESIGN showcased uniquely designed interior products from Australian and New Zealand designers to a discerning audience. Established in 2015, LOCAL DESIGN is actively thrusting the nations design aesthetics onto the global stage and raising awareness of the regions best current and emerging design talent.

Emma Elizabeth together with Dale Hardiman and Tom Skeehan from Friends and Associates, merged over 50 designers in a bold demonstration of Australian design genius. Guests were invited to enjoy the masterfully stylised vignettes that combined colour, light, texture and sound, and immersed the senses in a showcase of design and innovation that was unparalleled.

An Australian Affair- A Marriage of Loyalty and Style. 

With their head office located in Milan and a firm presence in Australia, Avion International Freight Forwarders are a fitting sponsor of LOCAL DESIGN and a passionate advocate for Emma Elizabeth Design. Avion International demonstrates their respect for heritage and is steadfast in supporting Australian companies in the international design scene. Avion facilitated the import and export of all the designer goods, furniture and artefacts to and from Italy, for the LOCAL MILAN NO.4 exhibition, which was a huge success. AVION International representatives attended the event as a proud sponsor and offered unwavering support. After the exhibition, Avion successfully arranged the export of all designer goods and equipment back to Australia. Avions Customs experts facilitated the swift clearance of the shipment upon arrival into Melbourne in consideration of the tight schedule for the next exhibition. The goods were transported to the Friends & Associates A.G.M Expo for the next design showcase at the historic Melbourne Meat Market in North Melbourne. The A.G.M Expo ran over three days where feature furniture, lighting and accessory pieces were showcased from some of the most influential and innovative designers Australia and New Zealand has to offer.
