Avion Company achieves Gender Equality certification

Gender Equality: a way forward for collective engagement and growth

We are proud to announce that Avion Company has achieved Gender Equality certification according to UNI/PdR 125:2022 following the audit conducted by the Q-AID certifying agency in June 2024.

This important award is not only an endorsement of our commitment but also an additional driver for continuing to promote gender equality in our company.

Our commitment to Gender Equality at Avion had started a couple of years ago, through the implementation of plans to monitor women’s employment in different departments and corporate practices dedicated to supporting male and female parenting. Being certified now formalizes this long-embraced commitment and we are certain that it is a great way to systematically promote our inclusive and equal corporate culture.

The Gender Equality Certification UNI/PdR 125:2022

In accordance with UNI/PdR 125:2022, certification is attesting that the company takes in place effective measures to reduce the gender gap by promoting policies and practices that support gender equality in terms of career opportunities, pay, work-life balance, and participation in company life. The certification process involves a detailed assessment of corporate practices, with the goal of identifying and implementing concrete actions to continuously improve gender equality.

The Global Gender Gap Index 2023 data show that on Gender Equality, Italy ranks 79th globally, out of 146 countries, and 25th in Europe, out of 35 countries.

In Logistics and Transport industry, female employment accounts for 22 % of the Italian working force, confirming that there is still a long way to go.

“This award”-explains Manuela Giordano, Chief Operations Officer of Avion Company -“for those of us women working in international freight forwarding has an even deeper meaning.

In a professional environment historically marked by a strong male presence, knowing that they work in an environment with no gender bias is a powerful source of motivation and trust for all women who love this work.

That’s why, as a woman, before even as Avion’s COO and Quality System Manager, I am especially proud to carry on this commitment, and I trust that more and more women will feel encouraged to play roles of greater responsibility and leadership in freight forwarding and logistics. We will continue to work together to ensure that Avion Company remains an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all”.

In addition to specific training for the return from maternity and paternity leave, there are currently ongoing training plans at Avion aimed at making all employees increasingly aware of gender topics. Other concrete corporate measures have been planned to reduce the equal pay gap and to create growth opportunities for working women in the company.
